Laboratory Treatability Trials

ImageTreatability and pilot trials are invaluable in determining whether a treatment process is suitable for a given effluent or waste.  Aqua Enviro can assess a wide range of physical, biological treatment processes.

We have standard apparatus to trial most processes but can design bespoke test units for new treatment technologies.  Typical trials include:

  • Activated sludge processes (including SBR's and MBR's)
  • Anaerobic digestion of biosolids and organic wastes (CSTR processes)
  • Anaerobic effluent treatment (UASB, EGSB)
  • Ion exchange medias
  • Membrane and depth filtration
  • Chemical treatment (coagulation/flocculation)

The trials can provide a wide range of information and the most common parameters investigated are:

  • Biological Treatment - Effluent quality, hard COD, toxicity/inhibition, biomass microbiology and characteristics
  • Anaerobic Trials - COD removal, biogas generation
  • Membrane trials - Membrane fluxes and cleaning requirements
  • Ion exchange - hydraulic residence times and adsorption capacities
  • Filtration - solids removal, media attrition, backwashing requirements

The analytical regime for each trial is designed around the project scope and budget to give a comprehensive assessment of the wastewater and/or treatment process.
