Tracer studies can be vital in determining the mixing characteristics and residence times of a range of process units.  Lithium chloride is most commonly used as tracer due to the low detection limits which are achievable, although other compounds such as Rhodamine B, Rhodamine WT and fluorescence can also be used.

We can design a study to determine the mixing characteristics of any given process unit as well as using tracers for network surveys, where sampling may be carried out across a network to confirm flow pathways and residence times.
