Private Water Supplies
14th - 15th October 2010, Aqua Enviro Training Suite, WakefieldSponsored by Severn Trent Services - Analytical Services
The 2009 Private Water Supplies Regulations introduced a radical new regime for private water supplies. Reliance on end-testing was replaced by comprehensive risk assessment confirmed by monitoring. Once supplies have been established as unwholesome, local authorities are required to take action to ensure the supplies provide consistently safe drinking water. This will involve source protection and treatment identified through the risk assessment process.
One of the major challenges for local authorities is organising these risk assessments and ensuring local authority staff are “competent” to carry them out as required by the regulations. This course has been designed to provide that competency. To aid this process this we have prepared a structured training course involving on-site risk assessment for both private supplies and the newly introduced private distribution networks. The course will also cover competent sampling supported by Water Company staff.
