A Comprehensive Review of UF/MF Technology for Wastewater Treatment

Introduction

The focus of this orkshop is on the use of membrane filtration in wastewater treatment, both as a standalone unit operation and as a pre-treatment for reverse osmosis (RO). The range of membrane technologies used in wastewater treatment will be discussed, including the filtration technologies ultrafiltration (UF) and microfiltration (MF), together with membrane bioreactors (MBR) and RO/NF (ie nanofiltration). UF/MF will then be discussed in more detail, and the commercial offerings of suppliers will be reviewed. Advantages of competing systems will be highlighted, thus enabling informed selection decisions to be made, and a process design assignment will be used to introduce issues involved in applying membrane technology. The Workshop will then examine case studies, and will discuss operational issues, helping users to understand their systems, improve performance, and solve problems.
